Perimeter Security Solutions by Industry
Fiber-optic perimeter intrusion detection (PIDS) tailored to each environment.
How FortSense® Works
- Passive fiber optic cable is mounted along your existing fence or wall perimeter
- Advanced signal processing detects vibration patterns from cutting, climbing, or impact
- Zone-based alarms pinpoint the exact perimeter segment under attack
- Instant alerts integrate with your VMS, PSIM, or security operations center
Key Benefits
- Up to 4km coverage per controller with 4 independent detection zones
- EMI/RFI immune - ideal for substations, data centers, and industrial sites
- No electronics on the perimeter - intrinsically safe for explosive environments
- Weather-resistant detection in rain, fog, dust, and extreme temperatures
- Low false alarm rate with auto-calibration and advanced DSP algorithms
- Integrates with major VMS platforms (Genetec, Milestone, Digifort)

Frequently Asked Questions
How does fiber optic sensing differ from cameras?
Cameras provide visual verification but can miss events in blind spots, bad weather, or low light. FortSense detects vibration patterns along 100% of your perimeter, triggering alarms before breach. Use both together for complete coverage.
What is the maximum coverage per controller?
A single FortSense 4® controller covers up to 4km of perimeter, divided into 4 independent zones of 1km each. Multiple controllers can be networked for larger sites.
Does it work in harsh weather conditions?
Yes. The passive fiber optic cable operates in rain, snow, fog, extreme heat, and dust. Advanced signal processing filters environmental noise while maintaining high detection sensitivity.
How are alarms reported?
Alarms are reported by zone (up to 4 zones per controller), allowing security teams to respond to the correct perimeter segment. Integration with VMS can trigger camera presets and lighting.
Is installation complex?
No. The sensing fiber mounts directly to existing fences or walls using standard cable ties or clips. No power or electronics are required on the perimeter, simplifying installation and reducing maintenance.
Can it integrate with our existing security systems?
Yes. FortSense supports integration via dry contact relays, HTTP webhooks, MQTT, and native plugins for major VMS platforms including Genetec, Milestone, and Digifort.
